Rumor has it there will be a dirt jump contest to benefit Ricky Chang and his family. Ricky was injured riding street back in July and has spent the better part of a month at a rehab center in Atlanta. So the rumor is on Sept. 7th at aroung 11ish all the bmx and mtn dirt jumpers are going to arrive at 495 and pay $20 (all of which will go to his family and the hospital bills. There will be prizes for best trick and best run along with whatever else I can come up with to give prizes for. I will make sure the prizes are worthwhile not some crap fished out of the shops clearance bin. EDIT: To read more about Ricky and his story, check out this thread.

Depends on how many and which people show up. That's why I trying to bring as many prizes as I can. If anyone can remember the old "pits jam" dual slalom races that the Googs put on up in Maryland, it really didn't matter if you won or lost there was still a good chance that you would go home with something. By the way if you read this Andy I expect you to be there jumping your XC bike after a 20 mile cross country ride with all your tools and a water bottle on the bike.

that's exactly what we did today... 2 hour xc ride at wakefield followed up by mucho DJing at 495 although the googs was riding a 20" at the jumps and saved the water bottle and tools for the xc bike. i'll try to make it out this week to dig if it rains. there are a few damp pits out there, but not much to dig with except dust.

we need rain BADLY. i went out today and desperately rebuilt #3 on the mainline with a puddle of nasty water and goop. i hope it dries out nicely... it was the most bumpy jump and in the worst shape in that set (besides the f*ckin hip going into it that someone destroyed).
keep your fingers crossed for some rain this week or digging will be pretty much impossible or a MAJOR pain in the ass for the event.
